One of the key objectives and principles of the Iran Wetland Protection Project and the ecosystem-based approach is to enhance the level of awareness among stakeholders. When wetland and environmental stakeholders and practitioners are aware of the values and functions of wetlands, and properly understand the problems that the loss or degradation of wetlands can create for communities and the environment, further damage to wetlands can be prevented.
In this regard, one of the principles of the ecosystem-based approach is to foster, among all stakeholders and practitioners, an understanding of the need for wetland management plans, raise awareness of the value of wetland ecosystems, and strengthen recognition of the need to protect them.
